Steven Ricks (b. 1969) is a Professor in the BYU School of Music where he currently serves as Composition and Theory Division Coordinator. He holds degrees in composition from BYU, the U of Illinois, and the U of Utah, and a Certificate of Advanced Musical Studies from King’s College London. He currently lives in Provo with his wife, Laura, who works in the Dean’s Office of the BYU College of Humanities. They have two sons–Max (19) and Jack (17)–and two cats–Fabian and Pepper. Steve mostly writes music for chamber ensembles or soloists that often includes electronic sounds and that occasionally incorporates theatrical elements–more information and links to several examples are available via his website: http://stevericks.com/.
