Matthew Bowman is the Howard W. Hunter Chair of Mormon Studies at Claremont Graduate University. He is the author of The Mormon People: The Making of An American Faith (Random House, 2012), and the co-editor (with Kate Holbrook) of Women and Mormonism: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives. (University of Utah, 2016). He has also written books about the meaning of the word “Christian” in America, Protestant fundamentalism, and most recently alien abduction.
