0. KENDALL WHITE JR. is the William P. Ames Jr. Professor in Sociology and Anthropology at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He is the author of Mormon Neo-Orthodoxy: A Crisis Theology (Salt Lake City: Signature Books, 1987), coeditor, with Daryl, of Religion in the Contemporary South: Diversity, Community, and Identity (Athens: University of Georgia Press, 1995), and author of numerous articles on Mormonism and in the sociology of religion.
