Kathryn H. Shirts holds masters degrees from Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Divinity School, where she focused on American Church History.  She has presented at Mormon History Association Conferences, BYU Women’s Conferences, the Church History Symposium, Sunstone, and FairMormon.  She co-authored A Trial Furnace: Southern Utah’s Iron Mission with her late father-in-law, Morris A. Shirts.  Her article on the historical development of the priesthood-motherhood model received the 2019 MHA award for best article on Mormon women’s history.  She and her husband, Randy, recently returned from a Church Education System mission in Raleigh, North Carolina, where they were excited to be among the first to teach LDS Church History using SaintsThe Standard of Truth.  They are the parents of six uniquely wonderful children, and they have seven grandchildren.
