2025 Annual Appeal

December 2, 2025

As this year draws to a close, we’re writing to invite your continued support of Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought. Your generosity sustains an independent, rigorous, and creative space where scholarship, literature, and the arts can flourish within and beyond the Latter-day Saint tradition. As the new editors of Dialogue, we are thrilled and honored to be joining this remarkable community.

Looking back, 2025 has been a remarkable year. In the journal, we published exceptional work from artists and authors across the globe—Portugal, Ukraine, Italy, China, and the United States—continuing our commitment to a truly international conversation. We featured a special issue dedicated to innovative Book of Mormon scholarship, and we did not shy away from urgent subjects: one major essay exposed the persistence of violence against women and girls, while another documenting white nationalism. This is work that matters.

We also completed a milestone project: our new website now has 97% of everything Dialogue has ever published available to read, search, and share—fully open access. Nearly six decades of Mormon studies scholarship, poetry, memoir, art, and theology are now accessible to everyone.

Our audio offerings continue to expand. Every issue is now recorded in full—you can listen to Dialogue cover-to-cover while commuting, cleaning, or walking the dog. Our Dialogue Out Loud series spotlights authors behind the work, while Dialogue Unbound engages scholars, activists, and artists wrestling with the questions that define our moment.

We’re also proud of our thriving community programming. Dialogue Book Club brings readers together with authors for conversation that is smart, spirited, and genuinely fun. And Dialogue Sunday Gospel Study continues to model expansive, faith-filled learning with gifted teachers from diverse backgrounds.

Looking ahead, we are already preparing for our 60th anniversary in 2026. We will begin publishing the journal in full color and expanding our engagement with art and artists—building on Dialogue’s longtime commitment to creative expression. We have exciting collaborations and celebrations in the works, and we want you with us every step of the way.

Making all our work freely available is a joyful commitment—one that depends on donors like you. Thank you for investing in a future where curiosity, honesty, and imagination remain at the heart of our religious conversations.

With gratitude,

Margaret Olsen Hemming and Caroline Kline
