Truth, Trust, & Faith Crisis: A Conversation with Gregory A. Prince
October 21, 2026

Historian Gregory A. Prince joins Dialogue co-editor Caroline Kline for a conversation about truth, trust, and faith crisis in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Drawing on more than forty years of conversations with members and Church leaders, Prince recounts the 2011 faith crisis survey, efforts to bring its findings to Church leadership, and the long road to the Gospel Topics essays. He offers a firsthand perspective on the people working for greater historical transparency and the institutional resistance they encountered.
Together, Prince and Kline explore how withholding history can damage trust, why institutional change is difficult, and what it would mean to make room for honest questions within a faith community.
This episode accompanies Prince’s article, “A Close-up View of Faith Crisis,” in Dialogue’s Fall 2026 issue.
