June 14, 2026

Tanya Wells Brown takes listeners on an important journey with the biblical women of Ruth and Judith, looking at  a comparative lens of gender, religion and power that shape faith and lived experience.

Tanya Wells Brown is a social worker and public health specialist currently undertaking doctoral research at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She serves as a Safeguarding Lead for the Diocese of Europe in Portugal, where her work focuses on preventing harm and strengthening safe, accountable practices within faith-based communities.

Tanya is part of the Community of Practice with the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI), contributing to global efforts to understand and prevent violence in faith settings, with a particular focus on the intersections of gender, power, and religion. Her work explores how faith spaces can both perpetuate and challenge inequalities, and how safeguarding approaches can be grounded in justice and care.
