Elaine E. Englehardt, PhD, is Professor Emerita of Philosophy and Distinguished Professor of Ethics at Utah Valley University (UVU). Now retired, she taught philosophy, ethics, and communication courses for more than 47 years. Dr. Englehardt is the author or editor of ten academic books and numerous peer-reviewed articles and chapters. She has written and presented nearly 200 academic papers. Over the course of her career, she has held several administrative roles at UVU, including Vice President, Dean, and Director. She earned her BA and MA from Brigham Young University and her PhD from the University of Utah. Dr. Englehardt has served as principal investigator on eight major national grants from National Endowment for the Humanities and the U.S. Department of Education’s FIPSE program in Ethics and Ethics Across the Curriculum. In 2024, she completed her second term as President of the Society for Ethics Across the Curriculum, a national organization she co-founded 25 years ago.
