RICHARD PEARSON SMITH is a physical chemist who has specialized in applications of computing to theoretical chemistry. He was with the University of Utah and then, until recently, with Exxon Research and Engineering in Linden, New Jersey. He is enjoying early retirement, trying his hand at writing a book.
